Attendance Policy

Parents, if your child is absent PLEASE be sure to send in a written excuse and/or doctor's note to the office or teacher as soon as they return to school. When a student reaches 5 unexcused absences, the attendance office will be notified.

For an absence to be excused, a parent must submit a written excuse within 5 days of the students return to school. A medical excuse may be required at the discretion of school personnel, depending on the total number of absences recorded for the student.
Student Absence Information: (Please see the Handbook for District level requirements)

When a student returns from an absence of one or more days, the student must submit an excuse from his/her parent or guardian to the attendance clerk or counselor stating the reason for the absence in order to receive an excused absence.  The student will then be issued an admittance slip to class.

Excuses submitted more than two days after the absence may not be accepted.

Students sent home due to fever should not return to school unless fever free for 24 hours.

If a check-in or check-out results in a student being counted absent for the day, the check-in/out sheet will be used as verification in lieu of a written excuse.

By law, any student accumulating five unexcused absences must be reported to the Madison County Attendance Office.
